Thunder's Mouth 2006
Date finished: 2011-02-08
An entertaining collection of weather-related anecdotes and stories. There are chapters on tornadoes and hurricanes, rain and snow, wind, and weather extremes. There's a strong flavor of the Fortean here, though Cerveny is not a pseudoscientist like Fort and seeks natural explanations of ball lightning and rains of fish. Many of the citations are to newspaper articles or to other books on weather, so I wonder how many of the stories are actually urban legends and completely fictional, but for the purpose of some diverting reading that doesn't matter very much.
