Contains three lectures by Knox, a distinguished classicist who recently died (his obituary listed his books, and a bunch of them went on my to-read list). The first one argues that the study of the Greeks is still relevant even in an age when we're trying to be more inclusive and multicultural. The second lecture considers the role of the humanities in education, and the third (my favorite) talks about the relevance of modern Greek language and politics to the classicist; many classicists never go to Greece except for very short touristy visits, and they often don't speak modern Greek at all.
